Hyena, our beloved Engen Truckstop dog and long-time member of the team, has upgraded to a fresh new setup – complete with a brand-new kennel, cosy blankets, and her favourite peanut butter treats.
A Story of Survival and Second Chances
Hyena’s journey with us began back in 2017. She was found next to the road in Swartkops in heartbreaking condition, weak and in desperate need of help. After being rushed to the vet, she was given a fighting chance. And, true to her resilient spirit, she pulled through.
Estimated to be around four years old at the time, Hyena soon became a cherished part of the Engen Truckstop family – and she’s been with us ever since.
A Life Filled With Comfort, Care, and Companionship
Today, Hyena lives comfortably on site, where she has her own kennel, warm blankets, meals on time, and plenty of affection from everyone around her. Every day, Brett, our Canteen Manager, makes sure she’s well-fed and content, with help from the rest of the Engen Truckstop team.
A Favourite Among Visitors
If you’ve ever visited us, you’ve likely met Hyena. She’s become a true favourite among the drivers and staff, always ready to greet you (we suspect she’s multi-lingual). Her gentle, friendly presence has turned her into a core part of the welcoming atmosphere at our truckstop.
